Clerk Responsibilities under the Liquor Control Act
- Clerks must publish renewal notices one time in a legal newspaper of general circulation: 53-135.01
- Non-Class C licenses: January 10–30
- Class C licenses: July 10–30
- You are not required to file a copy of the notice with the Liquor Commission.

Annual License Fees

- Local fees are not paid through POSSE.
- To enable online payments, clerks must:
- Complete the Local Fee Sign-Up Form
- Return the form to brenda.hiland@nebraska.gov.
- Tyler Technologies will contact you to complete account setup (process may take up to 2 weeks).
- After setup:
- You’ll receive an email each time a licensee pays local fees online.
- You’ll have online access to view fees paid.
- Setup is managed by Freddy Pika at Tyler Technologies.
Occupation Tax (53-132)
- Clerks may collect occupation tax up to twice the amount of the license fee, as allowed by local ordinance.
Payment Confirmations
- After state renewal fees are paid, you’ll receive a Payment Confirmation email from lcc.noreply@nebraska.gov.
- Once local fees are confirmed, the license will be emailed directly to the licensee and available in their POSSE Customer Portal.
- Note: You may receive notice that local fees are paid but state fees are not (or vice versa).
State Renewals
- All state renewals must be completed online.
- Payment options: Credit Card or ACH.
- Renewal notices are not sent to clerk’s offices.
Renewal Periods
Class C Licenses
- Renewal notices emailed: August 1
- Reminder emailed: October 1
- Renewal period: August 1 – October 31
- Late renewals accepted until November 30
- After November 30: new application required
Non-Class C Licenses
- Renewal notices emailed: February 1
- Reminder emailed: April 1
- Renewal period: February 1 – April 30
- Late renewals accepted until May 30
- After May 30: new application required

Ordinance Filing (53-179)
- If your jurisdiction has passed a 2:00 a.m. ordinance, you must file a copy of the ordinance or resolution with the Commission.
