Clerk Responsibilities under the Liquor Control Act
- As clerk, you are responsible to fulfill the renewal notice requirements as set forth in 53-135.01 of the Liquor Control Act.
- Publication shall be made one time between January 10th-30th for Non-Class C licenses and July 10th-30th for Class C licenses in a legal newspaper in or of general circulation in your city, town or county. You are not required to file a copy of the notice with the Liquor Commission.

- The local fees are not paid through POSSE. You must sign up to have local fees paid online through our payment partner Tyler Technologies.
- To allow licensees to pay local fees and taxes online you must complete this form and return to brenda.hiland@nebraska.gov.

- After submission someone from Tyler Technologies will contact you to complete the setup of your account.
- This process can take 2 weeks to complete.
- After completion you will receive an email each time a licensee pays local fees online.
- You will also have access to view the fees paid online.
- This is set up through Freddy Pika at Tyler Technologies.
- All state renewals must be completed online! No renewals will be accepted in our office. Payment can be made by Credit Card or ACH.
- No renewal notices are sent to the clerk’s office for dissemination.
- For Class C licenses - Renewal notices are sent by email on August 1; and a reminder is sent on October 1st.
- Renewal period is August 1st – October 31st.
- Late renewals are accepted until November 30th.
- After November 30th, a new application is required.
- For Non-Class C licenses - Renewal notices are sent by email on February 1; and a reminder is sent on April 1st.
- Renewal period is February 1st - April 30th
- Late renewals are accepted until May 30th.
- After May 30th, a new application is required.
- You may collect occupation tax up to twice the amount of the license fee as allowed by local ordinance - 53-132
- After renewal fees are paid to the state; you will receive a Payment Confirmation email to confirm local fees have been paid.
- Once you confirm payment, the license will be emailed to the licensee; and will be available for them to download in their customer portal.
- You may get the notification they have paid the local fees; but they haven't paid the state fees - or vice versa.

- All licenses will be emailed directly to the licensee. They are also available to download in their POSSE Customer Portal.
- You will not receive a copy of the issued license.
- Nebraska Revised Statute 53-179 - if your jurisdiction has passed a 2am ordinance you must file a copy of this ordinance or resolution with the Commission.
